Dr. Aristotle Winger
Those who do nothing, should expect nothing

Company: Emory and Henry College
Location: Emory, Virginia
Website: www.DCSouth.com

Biography:
Dr. Aristotle Winger obtained his Ph. D at the age of 26 from Carnegie Mellon University in the area of Mathematical Sciences. A graduate of the Howard University Class of 1998, he is much more than just a mathematician.

He has been Professor of Mathematics at Emory and Henry College in Southwestern Virginia since the fall of 2004. He was nominated for Virginia’s “Young Professor of the Year in 2006.” In addition to his professorial duties, he serves as an advisor to students in addition to giving lectures across the country on various topics, mathematical and otherwise.

Aristotle was born in Washington D.C. and grew up there in a time where the nation’s capital was known as the “Murder Capital of the World.” Despite that, he went on to become valedictorian of Dunbar Senior High School, before moving on to Howard University at the age of 16.

His current focus lies in the “Mathematics of Social Justice” and “Quantitative Literacy.” He has lectured on how mathematics can be applied to solve social justice problems like racial profiling, unfair hiring practices and the perception of the African American as less intelligent. Lectures and writings on these topics can be found at http://dcsouth.com/articles.html or http://dcsouth.com/lectures.html

Aristotle is a Co-Founder of DCSouth.com along with Michael Young. One of the site’s many goals is to present a diverse group of activities under the slogan “Those who do nothing, should expect to get nothing.”

This and other radical points of view are evident on “The Flagship,” the radio show Aristotle hosts on WEHC Radio 90.7. The show covers topics from sports to current events. Topics have included:

1. Why Nelly and others like him are destroying the image of women in society.
2. How Michael Vick’s “Keeping it Real” ruined his career.
3. How T.I. being jailed is a good thing for his career and what that says about our society.
4. A controversial interview with the minister Terry Durham, the nine year old preacher sweeping the nation.
5. How Jam Donaldson is doing more harm than good to the image of African Americans.

Excerpts from the show can found on http://dcsouth.com/podcasts.html
