Biography:
The vision of sports marketing expert Anthony Martin that led to the formation of The Urban Youth Racing School (UYRS) ten years ago continues to inspire and drive the school today. Martin is the Founder and Executive Director of UYRS, the only school of its kind. Under his leadership, the school has introduced thousands of inner city children to the world of motorsports, In addition to teaching young people the ins and outs of the racing industry, Martin helps his kids develop the necessary life skills, integrating valuable components such as, education, leadership skills and diversity training into the overall curriculum at UYRS. Enduring ten years of trying to break down one of the last racial barriers left in sports “motorsports”.
Martin has successfully taken kids from all walks of life with no knowledge of the sport and has turned around lives that were being lead astray in what has become the most deadly city in the nation. Through hope, tears and joy Martin has made dreams a reality and life worth living for teens that once did not believe in them selves.

For a decade, he has demonstrated his commitment to children that are often overlooked and underdeveloped, while also helping youths dreams come true. Martin provides a program that most inner city children would never be able to afford, at no cost. Solely responsible for generating the sponsorship dollars that fund the program, Martin relies on the help of national sponsors like GM, GMAC, NASCAR, Sears, Microsoft and many others, which enables him to purchase the cars (which cost about ,000 each), the fuel, insurance and proper racing gear, among other things.

Together, Martin and his supporters have been able to make a tremendous impact in inner cities and the motor sports industry. UYRS now serves as a prototype for forth coming racing schools, across the nation. Mr. Martin Knows sits on the Boards of NASCAR’s Diversity Council and the Philadelphia High School Academies; he also gives seminars on how to save today\'s youth through education, Parent Motivation and the motorsports Industry. Martin was named one of the top 70 of the most influential African American men in the Automotive Industry and has won Urban Wheel Awards 2007 Diversity In Motorsports Awards at the Detroit Auto Show and a 2008 Associated Press Award. Anthony Martin and The UYRS have been featured in such media outlets as Good Morning America, CNN, ESPN Network & Magazine,GQ Magazine, USA Today, NASCAR.com,The Washington Post,Tokian Magazine, The Philadelphia Inquirer,Inquirer Magazine, RPM 2 Night, as well as ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX News and was Dale Earnhardt Jr. book \"DRIVER # 8\" among many others.

Prior to forming UYRS, Martin served as Founder and Director of the Philadelphia Youth Recreation Association, where he provided rare opportunities and outlets for inner city children once again, with the help of corporate sponsorship. Before establishing the Youth Recreation Association, Martin spent several years in sports marketing, where he worked alongside key executives in sports & entertainment, professional athletes and major athletic companies. As an experienced sports professional, Martin penned major projects for several high-profile athletes including, Thomas “Hit Man” Hearns, Vinny Pazienza, Randall Cunningham, and Charles Barkley to name a few. Not new at garnering media attention, Martin made national headlines when the gold-tipped shoelaces he invented and patented landed the first and only shoelace endorsement contract. Martin’s unique shoelaces were then backed by former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, Randall Cunningham, and he currently still owns a patent on his distinctive laces, to this day. Martin was in the news once again after breaking the world record for jumping jacks in 1987 and again in 1990.

Now focused on the Urban Youth Racing School, Martin is earning Global recognition as an ordinary dreamer, with an extraordinary heart. He has enthusiastically dedicated his entire life, personal, professional and economical, to helping children and giving them opportunities to succeed.
